Version 22020 (Part Number: 83-0073-07) for use with your CS/200 or CS/210
that is booted from an NCS/AT.

This release memo describes the procedure for installing
SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020 on the NCS/AT. It also lists the
compatibility and limitations in this version of SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT.

Compatibility

SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020 can operate with the following 3Com
products and software releases:

 CS/1 running SW/1-A/BSC/SDLC Version 20060 or later

** NOTE **

You must press the Return key after you type each command in all procedures
described in this release memo.

Installation

** NOTE **

If you wish to make a copy of SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020, you
should use a blank, 96 TPI, double-sided, high-density diskette.

Because your Series/200 server is booted from an NCS/AT, install
SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020 on the NCS/AT using the following
procedure:

1. Follow the instructions in the NCS/AT Operation Guide to log in to the
NCS/AT. A command prompt appears on the screen after you log in.

2. Enter the NCS/AT utility mode by typing the following at the NCS/AT command
prompt:

 utility

The NCS/AT utility prompt, NCS/AT%, appears on the screen.

3. Enter the /usr/NCS/BIN directory on the NCS/AT by typing the following
command:

 cd /usr/NCS/BIN

4. Before installing the new software on the NCS/AT, save the earlier version
of the Series/200 software. For example, type the following command to save
the contents of SW/200A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22010 in a file named
cs200.22010:

 mv cs200x cs200x.22010

5. Enter the /usr/ncs/bin directory by typing the following command:

 cd /usr/ncs/bin

6. Display the contents of the /usr/ncs/bin directory by typing the following
command:

 ls

The files sysgenx and sysgent must be in the /usr/ncs/bin directory before
you can successfully install SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020 on the
NCS/AT. If these files are not in the /usr/ncs/bin directory, please call an
authorized 3Com service representative for help.

7. If the file sysgen is also in the /usr/ncs/bin directory, you should save
the contents of this file in case you need to use it later. For example,
type the following command to save the contents of the file sysgen in a file
named sysgen.script.

 mv sysgen sysgen.script

8. Insert the SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020 diskette in the disk
drive of the NCS/AT. When the drive engages the diskette, it makes a
clicking sound.

9. Turn the diskette drive lever down.

10. Invoke the floppyread utility to copy the files from the SW/200-
A/BSC/SDLC-
NCS/AT Version 22020 diskette to the NCS/AT disk by typing the following:

 floppyread

As the files are copied to the disk, their names are displayed on the
screen.

11. If floppy read errors or disk write errors occur, remove and replace the
diskette; then repeat this procedure starting at step 9.

12. If you wish to perform system generation on the Series/200 server, invoke
the sysgen utility on the NCS/AT. Refer to "Sysgen Utility" in the NCS/AT
Operation Guide for more information on the NCS/AT sysgen utility.

Binding Your Server to the NCS/AT

If your Series/200 server is not already bound to the NCS/AT, you should use
the BInd command to enable your Series/200 server to boot from the NCS/AT.

In addition to the actual software image, this release includes the following
loader file:

 /usr/NCS/BIN/cs2001 (for Series/200 Ethernet servers)

The file /usr/NCS/BIN/cs2001 is the default loader file. To configure
Ethernet
servers, use the following command:

 bind <Ethernet Address> -f cs200x.22020 -l cs2001

Refer to "BInd Command" the NCS/AT Operation Guide for information on using
the
BInd command.

Limitations

SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC-NCS/AT Version 22020 has the following limitations:

* Only three echo requests may be outstanding at any given time. If more
than three users simultaneously enter the PIng command, the following message
appears:

Can't Ping now - try later

* After you use the UNDefine command to delete a macro or the DEFine command
to create a macro file using an existing name, enter the following command at
the NCS/AT utilities prompt:

 oneachserver -B 'zm'

This command clears the macro cache on each server bound to the NCS/AT and
ensures that macros deleted from a Series/200 server are also deleted from
other Series/200 servers that boot from the same NCS/AT. However, this
command does not delete macros that are being used when the command is
issued.

* Because your Series/200 server is booted from an NCS/AT, you cannot set the
MacType parameter to IEEE. This is caused by a fault in the NCS/AT.
