Copying the Software

Before you run SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version 22020 on your CS/210, make a copy of
the distribution diskette using the following procedure:

1. Attach a terminal to port 0 of the server.

2. Make sure that there is no diskette in the disk drive. Then power on
the server. The Self Test LED turns on.

3. Reset the server, and press the hardware interrupt switch. For further
information on the location and operation of the hardware interrupt
switch, refer to "Hardware Interrupt Switch" in the Series/200
Installation Guide.

4. Press the Return key. The monitor prompt (>) appears.

5. Perform firmware configuration on the server if necessary. Otherwise, go
   on to the next step.

Refer to "Firmware Configuration" in the Series/200 Installation Guide for
further information on firmware configuration. After you perform firmware
configuration, return to the monitor prompt (>).

6. At the monitor prompt (>), type the following command to make a copy of the
   distribution diskette:

         co <n>

where n is the number of copies to be made. The following message appears
  on the screen:

insert master and hit the Return key

7. Insert the SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version 22020 distribution diskette in the
disk drive. Then press the Return key.

The following messages appear on the screen if the read completes
  successfully:

         reading ... OK
insert copy 1 and hit the Return key

In the actual display, the number in the message may vary according to the
number of copies you have made. If the message "read error" appears instead
of the message "OK," contact an authorized 3Com service representative for
help.

8. Remove the SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version 22020 distribution diskette from the
disk drive, and store it in a safe place. Insert a blank, 135 TPI,
double-sided, double-density, 3 1/2 inch diskette in the disk drive. Then
   press the Return key.

If the copy completes successfully, the following messages appear on the
   screen:

         formatting ... writing ... verifying ... OK
         copy completed

9. Remove the diskette from the disk drive, and label it "SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC
   Version 22020."

10. Before you upgrade from SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version 22010 to Version 22020,
copy the global, macro, and configuration files saved on your Version
22010 diskette by inserting the Version 22010 diskette and typing the
    following command:

         r 4e1 103000 15E00

The global, macro, and configuration files are now stored on your working
copy of SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC Version 22020. You can now use this copy on your
 server.

** NOTE **

If you use the configurations, macros, and global files copied from a
previous version of SW/200-A/BSC/SDLC, you must use the SETD command to set
the value of the AUditTrailType, TimeZone, DaylightSavingsTime,
NetMapBroadcast, and MacType parameters after booting the server.
