.H1;General
The buffer size set on the MSREDIR line (/z
parameter) of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file is set to 4096. If you
are running primarily multi-user applications on
your network, resetting this parameter to 1024
may improve performance. See Appendix D of
the 3+ Installation and Configuration Guide for
information on MSREDIR parameters.

User A-15 The message "Internal error" can indicate that
you have exceeded the maximum number of map entries
allowed in the Login Library. This can occur
when you attempt to link (3F or 3P LINK) or list
directories (3F or 3P DIR) to more than eight
different servers. In addition, each time you use
the 3N ASSIGN command to assign an IBM-
compatible name to represent the three-part
name of a server, you use one of the map
entries.

Rebooting the workstation will clear the Login
Library map entries. If you need to link to more
than eight servers on a regular basis, consult
your network administrator, Appendix D of the
3+ Installation and Configuration Guide and the
Installation and Administration Release Notes
for information on increasing the -m parameter
on the line DEVICE=LGL.SYS in your
CONFIG.SYS file.

User A-16 If the error message "LGL not loaded" or "Can't
access A-7 3Com Process Manager MINDSPRO" appears after
formatting a diskette, list a directory of the
diskette using the DOS DIR command. You
should then be able to continue network
operations.

User A-31 If the error message "Too many redirections" is
displayed, you must increase the number of
sessions allowed on the NB and MSREDIR
lines of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file for your
workstation. Consult your network administrator
and Appendix D of the 3+ Installation and
Configuration Guide for information.

User C-1 The XCOPY utility has been renamed to
3COPY. DOS 3.2 also contains a program called XCOPY which
provides similar functions.

.H1;3+Share/File
User 7-19 The 3F UNSHARE command only deletes the
specified sharename. The directory assigned to the
sharename will not be deleted as a result of the
3F UNSHARE command even if it is empty. To
delete an empty directory, you must use the
DOS RMDIR command.

.H1;3+Share/Print
User 5-5 If you are using a new IBM keyboard (one that
does not combine Prtsc and * on the same key), use
[Ctrl]+[Alt]+[*] (where * is the key directly above
the 9 on the numeric keypad) instead of
[Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Prtsc] to close spool files. Using a
normal asterisk ([Shift]+[8]) will not close spool
files.

User 9-16 The 3P QSTAT command allows you to see
what is in the print queue of any printer on the network.
The Status: line in the resulting list indicates
the status of each print job, as follows:

Intercept You currently have the job open
and are sending data to the spool
file. This is what you would see
if you used the 3P SET /HOLD
option, or if you are printing from
an application that does not send
a DOS CLOSE call and haven't
exited the application or pressed
[Ctrl]+[Alt]+[Prtsc].

Deferred Your job has been sent to the
queue, but you specified that the
printing of the job should be
deferred with the 3P SET /DEFER
command.

Waiting Your job has been sent to the
queue for printing, but another
job has priority. Your job will
print when those ahead of it have
completed.

Printing Your job is currently being
printed.

Print error An error has occurred on the
printer. Check to see that paper
is available and that the printer is
functioning properly.

.H1;3+Menus
Menus 1-13 The attributes j and k defined in the color screen
B-1 attribute list should read:

.BR;j Current field in forms
.BR;k Message line and the background for forms

.H1;3+Mail
Mail 6-5 CAUTION: When filing mail messages to a floppy
diskette, DO NOT insert a new diskette into the
same drive and continue filing messages.
Doing so results in false directory information
on the new diskette, rendering the filed
messages inaccessible.

If your workstation has two diskette drives and
you are running mail from a network drive, you
can safely file messages to two different
diskettes by placing one in drive A: and one in
drive B:.

If your workstation has only one diskette drive,
or you want to file messages to more than two
different diskettes, you MUST follow these
steps to ensure that the filed messages are
readable.

1. Exit the mail program.

2. Remove the destination diskette and
replace it with a new one.

3. List a directory (DIR) of the new
destination diskette.

4. Run the mail program.

5. File messages to the new destination
diskette

Mail A-2 CAUTION: If running mail locally using a dual
floppy drive system, do not retrieve mail to the same
diskette from which the program is run. Files
and directories can be lost or destroyed.
Always place the diskette containing the
MAIL.EXE program in drive A: , a formatted
diskette in drive B:, and use the command
A>MAIL B:.

Mail 2-8 Up to 25 attachments can be added to a
message.
5-4

Mail 3-4 3+Mail version 1.1 supports color on color
graphics and enhanced color graphics systems. To display
mail in color, type:

  MAIL <inbox location> /DISPLAYTYPE=x

where x is B, D, or E. Each of these letters
represents a different color combination.

Mail C-6 The message "Can't find <addressee>. But,
domain <domain:org> is a Remote Domain ..." indicates
that you have attempted to send a message to a
user who does not exist in the local Name
service. The domain specified, however, does
exist in the local Name service. Responding Y
when asked if you want to send the message
anyway, will cause the 3+Mail server to attempt
delivery of the message to the remote
domain:organization. If the user cannot be
found on the remote network, the message will
be returned in the form of undelivered mail. To
avoid this prompt when sending mail to users in
remote domains, use the /NP parameter when
running the mail program (for example, MAIL
E: /NP).

.H1;3+Remote
Rem 2-2 3+Remote now supports the use of DCA
FastLink and A-1 Trailblazer modems. Both these modems support the
use of 9600 baud.

Rem 2-3 Baud rates supported now include 4800 and
9600.

3-12

Rem 3-2 Remote User diskettes are created using the
3-5 3+ Installation program. Consult your network administrator and
Chapter 2 of the 3+ Installation and Configuration Guide for
information.

Rem 3-13 The modem type (modtype) can be Hayes,
Microcom, Fastlink, Trailblazer, or Other. The default is Hayes.
