Title: WD EtherCard Plus May Cause Problems with 3+Start Server

Recently, a customer used a Western Digital EtherCard Plus network adapter
in a 3+ 1.6 PC server running 3+Start and 3+Share. 3Stations would begin to
load device drivers in the normal order, that is: 3STATION.SYS, PRO.SYS,
BUF.SYS, ETH100.SYS etc. But at about SPP.SYS, a message would appear
"Error Reading Drive C:", and bootup would stop. All other 3+ functions to
the server worked fine. PC workstations could link to the server and run
applications, but 3+ Start would not work correctly.

Replacing the Western Digital EtherCard Plus with a 3Com EtherLink II (3C503)
adapter solved the problem. The problem may have been caused by a limitation
of the Start service in conjunction with the WE EtherCard Plus. The device
driver for the WD EtherCard Plus was not submitted to 3Com for certification
or testing in 3+ PC Servers. Therefore, for best results, always use 3Com
adapters in PC servers running either 3+ or 3+Open Start Service.
