The following table shows the operating systems that can be run on client
OS/2 servers. It also shows which version of LAN Manager to use with each
operating system.

Notes:

LAN Manager 1.1 servers and clients can talk to LAN Manager 2.0 servers and
clients. For a 1.1 client to have access to a 2.0 server, the client must
have an account on the server and be running the same primary protocol.
The same is true with 2.0 clients and 1.1 servers.

LAN Manager 1.1 servers cannot participate in 2.0 domain services.

The NETLOGON service has been changed in LAN Manager 2.0; you cannot have
a 2.0 server validate a 1.1 client and vice versa. Also, you cannot run
the NETLOGON service on both the LAN Manager 2.0 and LAN Manager 1.1
servers at the same time, on the same network.

To check which version of LAN Manager 2.0 server software is running, edit
the file named LANMAN.CSD, located in the server's \LANMAN subdirectory. The
last digit of the "Current CSD Level:" line identifies which version of LAN
Manager 2.0 is running. If the digit is a 1, then LM 2.0A is running. If the
digit is a 2, then LM 2.0B is running, etc.
