After upgrading your NCS/AT from SW/AT-NCS 2.1 to SW/AT-NCS 2.1.1,
you may get the following error message when you log in as the user ncs:

/dev/netc??: No such device or addr
  . . . logging out from /dev/tty02 at <date> <time>

This is caused by a problem in the NCS/AT2.1.1 software upgrade. It
automatically comes up using TCP, even if it was previously configured
under NCS/AT 2.1.1 using XNS. The error message occurs because a valid IP
address has not been configured.

To correct the problem, login as root instead of ncs. Execute the
command:

   NCSAT2#set_sysconf -r

followed by the command:

   NCSAT2#shutdown

The command set_sysconf -r tells the NCS/AT software that you want to
change from TCP to XNS. This is an undocumented command. It is used
whenever you want to change protocols on the NCS/AT. The -r option
causes the following prompt to occur during reboot:

Enter the protocol type for this NCS/AT (XNS or TCP)?

Respond by entering XNS. When the system comes up, you will be able to
log in again.
