For LAN Manager 2.0, 3+Open Backup has been changed to give admins the
ability to move the Backup service and the start volumes from the C:
partition on the server at installation rather than having to manually
edit the LANMAN.INI file.

The tape service is preinstalled on the 3Server and needs only to be
enabled. To enable it, follow these steps:

1. Type NET LOGON ADMIN PASSWORD to log on to the network as an admin user.

2. Link to the 3Server's C: partition. For example,

    NET USE X: \\TAPESERVERNAME\C$

3. Change to that drive. For example,

    X:

4. Change to the netprog subdirectory. For example,

    CD \LANMAN\NETPROG

5. Type 3SIS to execute the 3SIS program.

6. Select the target server.

7. Choose Enable a Service.

8. Highlight the 3+Open Backup Service and press Enter.

9. Enter the HPFS or FAT target drive. Do not enter a colon with the
drive letter.

10. After completing the installation, read the release notes to determine
what, if any, changes need to be made to the 3Server's LANMAN.INI or the
workstation's LANMAN.INI file.

For 3Servers: If there is a Tandberg tape drive in the unit with a ROM
revision level of 4.XX or below, change the srvheuristic bit 1 to zero.

For an OS/2 Netstation: The wrkheuristics bit 32 must be set to zero.

For a DOS Enhanced Netstation: The wrkheuristics bits 2 and 10 must be zero.
