Title: Message ***FORK: FATAL ERROR When Running 3OPT or 3INS
Date: 11/29/90

If you run 3OPT or 3INS from a drive linked to the root of drive C, you
will get the following message at the bottom of the netstation screen:

*** FORK : FATAL ERROR : "X\3PLUS\3CONFIG \3CISKE.EXE /M* \3PLUS
\3CONFIG\M....

where X is the drive linked to the root directory of drive C.

Also, the screen display will show 640 KB of memory rather then the usual
896 KB.

When 3OPT or 3INS is run from a drive linked to the root of drive C,
the netstation's hardware configuration is recorded instead of the
server's configuration, and the incorrect HWINFO.CFG, ENVIRON.DAT, and
ENVIRON2.DAT configuration files are written to the \3PLUS\3CONFIG
directory.

To solve the problem, either reboot the server (which generates new
configuration files), or restore the correct versions of the HWINFO.CFG,
ENVIRON.DAT, and ENVIRON2.DAT files, and run 3OPT or 3INS from a drive
linked to the \3PLUS directory. Until either of these actions is performed,
it will not be possible to run 3OPT or 3INS without generating a FORK error
message.

To successfully run 3OPT or 3INS while the server is online, link to the
\3PLUS directory, change directories to the \3CONFIG directory, and run
either 3OPT or 3INS from \3CONFIG. Or, you can run 3OPT or 3INS from a
console connection.
