Title: Incompatible DOS May Cause Problems Creating Start Volume
Date: 9/28/90

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

A bootable diskette that is used to create a start volume must be
formatted and the system installed using a compatible version of DOS. IBM
PC-DOS and Microsoft MS-DOS are the only supported versions of DOS for
creating start volumes.

Versions of DOS by other manufacturers may not create hidden files in a way
that is recognized by 3S.EXE. The error message "Start volume not
registered" after a start volume has been created may indicate that the
hidden files are not compatible.

To correct the problem, reformat the diskette and install the system using
the format program from a PC-DOS or MS-DOS machine.
