Title: Problem with Elgar IPS Series Causes MultiConnect Power-Down

There is a timing problem with the Elgar Intelligent Power Supply (IPS)
series of battery backup units when used with the 3Com MultiConnect repeater.
As a result, the MultiConnect repeater powers down when an event occurs that
causes the Elgar IPS to switch over to battery backup power. No other units
attached to the Elgar unit exhibit this symptom.

Elgar found that when the IPS units switch to battery backup and the output
sine wave is at a specific point in the cycle, the MultiConnect repeater will
switch off. If the IPS units switch to battery power at any other point on
the output sine wave cycle, the MultiConnect repeater is not affected.

Elgar has modified all IPS units with the following serial numbers:

   IPS-560 serial # 10,000 and higher
   IPS-1100 serial # 20,000 and higher
   IPS-1600 serial # 1,000 and higher
