The message "Request for tape service could not be posted" means that a
software request to use the tape service could not be posted to or was not
received by the designated tape server. One of the causes of this error
is when the tapeinfopath= parameter in LANMAN.INI does not point to the
same location as the BACKINFO sharename.

To solve the problem, follow these steps:

1. Make sure that the tape service has been started. If it has not been
started, start the tape service, and re-issue the request command.

2. Make sure that you have Admin network administrator privileges on the
tape server.

3. If you moved the log files to a different partition, verify that the
tapeinfopath= in LANMAN.INI (under the [tapeservice] section) is identical
to the BACKINFO sharename.

If the paths are not the same, delete the path for the BACKINFO sharename
and re-add it to reflect the modified tapeinfo= path.
