These are the installation instructions for NetProbe version 2.2. They
are contained on the NetProbe product diskette, along with the files
needed to run NetProbe. Before running NetProbe, follow these steps:

1. Replace the current ETH driver you are using with the equivalent ETH
driver from the disk provided with NetProbe, unless you have a 3Station,
in which case a standard 3+ ETH driver will work.

2. Get ANSI.SYS from your DOS disk. ANSI.SYS may be version-sensitive,
so be sure to get the copy from the disks that match the version of DOS
you are using now.

To run NetProbe from a floppy disk, follow these steps:

1. Format a diskette with the /s option.

2. Prepare your CONFIG.SYS file, which requires the following lines
(minimum) for proper installation:

For 3c501:
device = pro.sys 10 1 1
device = buf.sys
device = eth.sys
device = ansi.sys
files = 20

For 3c503:
device = pro.sys 10 1 1
device = buf.sys
device = eth503.sys
device = ansi.sys
files = 20

For 3c505:
device = pro.sys 10 1 1
device = buf.sys
device = eth505.sys
device = ansi.sys
files = 20

For 3c523:
device = pro.sys 10 1 1
device = buf.sys
device = eth523.sys
device = ansi.sys
files = 20

For 3c603:
device = pro.sys 10 1 1
device = buf.sys
device = tok603.sys
device = ansi.sys
files = 20

For 3Station: Create another start volume for EtherProbe. Copy the
ETH1100.SYS file provided on the EtherProbe diskette to your start volume.
(No other changes to your CONFIG.SYS file are necessary.) The start volume
will work with 3+ and NetProbe.

3. If you are not running NetProbe on a 3Station, add the following line
to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

runminds mindspro mindsbuf mindsspy

This is the minimum information needed for any PC to run NetProbe. (You do
not need to change your AUTOEXEC.BAT file to run on a 3Station.)

Note: The last argument is MINDSSPY, not MINDSETH as in previous
versions. The special ETH drivers that come with NetProbe recognize
MINDSSPY.

4. Run EPROBE.EXE (for Ethernet) or TPROBE.EXE (for token ring).
