Title: Preventing Faulty Shadow RAM Recovery in 3ComEMM on AST 386 PCs
date: 5/10/90

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

Some AST Premium 386 personal computers, including the models that
operate at 25 MHz and 33 MHz, have shadow RAM. Shadow RAM is
allocated above the first 640 KB of system memory, and 3ComEMM does
not successfully recover it. To prevent faulty shadow RAM recovery and
allow 3ComEMM to operate, put one of the following statements in the
CONFIG.SYS file when the computer is installed as a 3+ server:

   Device=3Comemm.sys NOXRAM USE=E000 L 1000
or
Device=3Comemm.sys NOXRAM "Other options ie: vidmem=B800-C000"

The NOXRAM parameter can be used with any other 3ComEMM parameters
required for your system.

See the AST Premium 386 documentation of setup parameters, which
allow system shadow RAM and system caching to be selected or not
for some models of this computer.

NOTE: These instructions may not apply to all AST 386
computers. Also, this modification or recommendation
has not been subjected to exhaustive testing and may not,
in all circumstances, provide a complete solution.
