Note: The following article applies to 3+ versions 1.2 and
    above.

The message "Network retrying...Press <Ctrl><Break> to stop" is
often displayed to indicate that the server cannot be accessed
for some reason, such as a break in the cabling or because the
server is busy processing other requests. However, this message
does not necessarily indicate that a system error has occurred.
It may be produced during normal operation. If NetBIOS has not
received a response from the server after a certain period of
time, a "Network Retrying..." message informs the user that the
netstation is waiting for the response.

Performing a DOS file operation can produce a "Network
retrying..." message. If a large file or group of files is
deleted or copied, several seconds can pass before the
netstation's NetBIOS receives a message from the server
indicating that the operation is complete. Before this operation
finishes, the timeout limit is reached and NetBIOS returns a
"Network retrying..." message.

Even though the "Network retrying..." message is displayed during
a DOS operation, the operation often will finish without an error
if the user avoids pressing <Ctrl> <Break>. The server notifies
the netstation NetBIOS when the operation is complete and the
user can then resume normal DOS operations.

If the user presses <Ctrl> <Break>, NetBIOS stops retrying the
server and drops the session. The Redirector cannot address the
server since NetBIOS has terminated the session. The Redirector
may then display a Network 804 message followed by a Network 805
message, indicating that the user must relink the logical network
drive to initiate a new session with the server.
