In case the Name server goes down, network administrators often
want to know how the Ethernet address is connected to the Name
service NS_DOM files, so they will be able to move the Name
service to another server.

The only entries in the NS_DOM files that are associated with
Ethernet addresses are the three-part names entered into the
name service via the "3N ADD SERVER" command.

Type 3N DIR SERVER to list all the servers on the default
domain. Locate the old Name server, then type 3N DEL
to remove its entry from its own Name service. Now, all
references to the associated Ethernet address are gone from
the NS_DOM file for the old Name service, and so the backup
tape will be independent of the Name service's Ethernet
address. When you bring up this NS_DOM on a new server, the
STARTUP.EXE file will insert each server's S_NAME into the
NS_DOM files when they boot up.
