Note: This topic applies to both MCPU-12 and MCPU-20 based products--the
GS/1-XNS and GS/X.25-XNS respectively. In the following discussion, both
products will be referred to as the "GS."

The Total Transparency feature can be selected in processing incoming
calls on a per-line basis. Parameters for Total Transparency can be set
in the X.25 submenu of the SYSGEN program.

When Total Transparency is selected on a line, response to interrupt and
reset packets and interpretation of the Q bit and M bit are handled on
an end-to-end basis without interference from the GS.

For example, PAD packets such as Set Parameter, Read Parameter, and Parameter
Indication are transparently forwarded by the GS. If the destination is
an X.25 host, that host will interpret the packets. If the destination is
an asynchronous host, the Communications Server that front-ends the host will
flush the PAD packets.
