Title: Transparency and Addressing Modes on a GS/1-X.25

On the GS/1-X.25 Line Parameters menu in the SYSGEN program, two options
determine how the GS/1-X.25 processes incoming calls. They are option 5,
Transparency mode, and option 6, Addressing mode.

To explore the different use of these two features, let's assume that
the GS/1-X.25 is attached to a LAN and is connected to an X.25 PDN
via its line 0.

If total transparency is selected and Honeywell addressing is selected,
digits are extracted from the Call User Data Area according to the
Honeywell scheme. The character string formed by these digits is
interpreted as a clearinghouse name. A connection is established to the
address obtained by resolution of the clearinghouse name. The
connection is transparent.

If total transparency is selected and Honeywell addressing is not
selected, the character string formed by the digits in the called
address field of the packet is interpreted as a clearinghouse name. A
connection is established to the address obtained by resolution of the
clearinghouse name. The connection is transparent.

Note that the Interconnection Service on the GS/1-X.25 was not requested
and that the above incoming calls are non-PAD calls. Therefore, there
is no PAD profile sent by the GS/1-X.25.
