Title: Connecting 3+Open 1.1 Workstations to Hewlett Packard NS 2.0
Date: 1/4/91

Hewlett Packard's Network Services (NS) 2.0 is a downloadable TCP used to
talk to HP3000 clients running the NS service. 3Com's TCP is the same as
Hewlett Packard's except for two drivers, PROBE and TICL, which are required
to talk to their HP3000 through TCP.

To get HP NS 2.0 to run on 3+Open workstations, follow these steps:

1. If possible, run HP's NETSETUP program because it will set up all
the files for you (LANMAN.INI, PROTOCOL.INI, CONFIG.SYS, and AUTOEXEC.BAT).
However, to run HP's NETSETUP, TCP must be the primary protocol.

If you do not want TCP as the primary protocol, install 3Com's TCP on an
NBP client and merge the HP PROTOCOL.INI file with 3Com's, to capture the
information you need.

2. Load the drivers in this order:

    TCPTSR
    probe
    VT (Hewlett Packard's)
    TICL

Note: If the drivers are not loaded in this order, they will not work.

You can load 3Com's drivers on top of the Hewlett Packard drivers to
talk to an HP9000 running UNIX. Then you can go into Advancelink or
Reflections and talk to either the HP3000 or HP9000, depending on
the DEVICE (ADVLINK3000 OR BRIDGE/INT14) that is selected.

3. When the user is done, unload all the drivers.
