Title: Netware 286 Drivers for Use With EtherLink/MC TP Adapter
Date: 12/31/90

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

A new release of Novell Netware 286 drivers have been designed to support
the EtherLink/MC TP (3C523/TP) adapter.

The drivers may be downloaded from the Ask3Com forum, Patches and Fixes
library. NetWare 386 server drivers, not affected by this notice, are
included with Novell's NetWare 386 packages.

To make sure you have the correct driver version, check it against the
list below. The version numbers of LAN drivers are displayed when selecting
the LAN driver during workstation shell generation (SHGEN utility) or NetWare
OS generation for file servers (NETGEN utility). Also, the version of the
LAN driver used in a workstation shell can be shown using the NVER workstation
command line utility and the version in the NetWare OS can be seen using
the CONFIG fileserver console command.

Netware drivers that work with EtherLink/MC TP:

    NetWare Workstation
Dedicated IPX driver v2.33 or later
DOS ODI driver v1.00 or later
OS/2 ODI driver Dated 3/8/90 or later

    NetWare 286 v2.15 Server
With AppleTalk I 1.01 or later
With AppleTalk II 1.04 or later

    NetWare 386 Server
       v3.0 driver -- Not Affected --
       v3.1 driver -- Not Affected --

The NetWare 386 v3.0 and v3.1 3C523 server drivers will work with both 3C523
and 3C523-TP adapters; no change has been made. The IPX driver works with
both NetWare 286 and 386 client workstations.

The "Dedicated IPX" workstation driver is supported directly by 3Com. All
other drivers, including the ODI and server drivers, are being supported by
Novell. Contact their Customer Service (1-800-LANSWER) for additional
information.

Installing Netware Drivers:

1. If you are not using LAN drivers with the correct version number,
copy the LAN drivers supplied on the EtherLink/MC TP Option Diskette to your
NetWare LAN drivers distribution diskette labeled LAN_DRV_002.

All files with the .OBJ extension in the NETWARE directory on the Option
Diskette should be copied to the LAN_DRV_002 diskette.

(Or, if you have uploaded your NetWare floppies to a hard disk or network
disk, copy the files to the appropriate hard disk or network disk directory.)

2. Copy the file S3C523.LAN (in the NETWARE directory of the Option
Diskette) to the NetWare SHGEN-1 diskette.

(Or, if you have uploaded your NetWare floppies to a hard disk or network
disk, copy S3C523.LAN to the appropriate hard disk or network disk directory.)

3. Copy the files 3C523A1.LAN and 3C523A2.LAN to the NetWare AUXGEN
diskette.

(Or, if you have uploaded your NetWare floppies to a hard disk or network
disk, copy the files to the appropriate hard disk or network disk directory.)

4. After copying the updated drivers and .LAN files from the Option
Diskette, regenerate your workstation shell (using SHGEN) or NetWare
operating system (using NETGEN).

Choose a LAN driver for the NetWare OS with AppleTalk support.

Your NetWare workstation or file server is now ready for use with the
EtherLink/MC TP adapter.
