Title: Tuning ETH3.SYS or ETH386.SYS

In the CONFIG.SYS file of the server, give the ETH3.SYS or
ETH386.SYS driver device lines appropriate -B and -H parameters.

-B This parameter specifies the upper limit on the amount of
memory for the ETH3.SYS or ETH386.SYS driver to allocate.
Optimum -B settings for running 3+Backup are

    59 or higher on a 3Server or 3Server3
    70 or higher on a 3Server386

-H This parameter specifies the number of holdback buffers to
reserve for use by the services installed on the server.
Services such as 3+Share and 3+Backup use holdback buffers to
communicate with each other.

The default -H setting is 8. Add 4-6 more holdback buffers for
servers under constant heavy use. If you increase the -H
parameter, increase the -B parameter by about the same number.

In the CONFIG.SYS device line below, the ETH3.SYS driver's -H
value was increased to support a heavily used 3Server3. The -B
value was also increased to accommodate the extra memory
requirement.

    device = eth3.sys -b 63 -h 12
