Title: 3+Mail Messages That Cannot Be Opened

In 3+Mail, after a rebuilding or renumbering of messages,
users may sometimes find some messages that cannot be opened. Actually,
they are phantom pointers in the FOLDER.DIR (folder directory) file
to messages that were already deleted. F3F3 will apparently fail on
these messages, but they are, in fact, deleted from the folder. The
same kind of mismatch can cause a renumbering to fail; 3+Mail tries to
rename a message to a filename that already exists, but which the
in-memory copy of FOLDER.DIR does not know about.

To work around the problem, either rebuild the FOLDER.DIR file
or attempt to rename the unexpected file to a numbered file after the
last number in the folder. It is recommended to rebuild the folder
directory file.
