You can exit to DOS from 3+Menus by pressing [F5] or Shift-[F5]. This
article explains the differences between the function keys.

Using 3+Menus 1.2, pressing the [F5] key from 3+Menus unloads EM.EXE
from memory, leaving only MENUS.EXE in memory (about 15-17 KB). Pressing
Shift-[F5] keeps EM.EXE and MENUS.EXE in memory and adds a new copy of
COMMAND.COM. Shift-[F5] is best used for a temporary exit to DOS, because
a return to 3+Menus from DOS does not require a reload of EM.EXE.

Using 3+Menus 1.3, the action of the [F5] and the Shift-[F5]
keys is reversed. Pressing [F5] keeps EM.EXE in memory, but Shift-[F5]
unloads it.

In addition, 3+Menus 1.3 adds the capability for any particular menu
item to either keep EM.EXE in memory or not. The option is offered
on the first screen of the task item definition, as the last question
before the Parameter Prompt section:

"Keep menus program in memory while running?"

The default is to unload EM.EXE so that old *.MNI files run as they used
to in 3+Menus 1.2.
