Title: Error Executing 3P SHARE On Certain COM Ports
Date: 2/14/90

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

The following problem occurred on a 3S/500 running 3+ 1.5.1 with
two AST 4-Ports attached:

In 3INS, the user had configured devices on all COM ports (COM1:
through COM11:). Issuing the 3P STAT command showed the status of
all COM ports (COM1: - COMB:).

The user was able to execute a 3P SHARE on COM1: through COM5:,
but, when trying to share a port between COM6: and COM11:, the
error "ENTER PRINTER DRIVE, SUCH AS PRN:" was displayed and the user
was left at the >PRINTER ID prompt.

The problem was caused by an older version of 3P.EXE used on the
workstation. Whether 3P.EXE is local to the workstation or being
linked to from an APPS directory, it must be upgraded to 3+ 1.5.1 in
order to share all available COM ports.
