Ever wonder what you were doing when you installed an EtherLink
Plus in a Compaq '386 and set the DMA to 6 to take advantage of
the 16-bit I/O slots?

Maybe not, but I did, especially when the 386 started failing. I
decided I wanted to know what DMA, interrupt, and I/O channels
were used by the system itself to be sure there was no conflict
BUT - this information cannot be found in Compaq's user manuals.
I did some research and wanted to pass it on:
