In the Nov/Dec TIB (1987), an article was published on page 10,
"Procedure for moving user to new server." THIS PROCEDURE IS FOR
PC USERS ONLY!!!!!

If you try to move a user with the procedure in the TIB with mixed PC
and Mac files, the Mac files will be damaged. During the moving procedure
the resource fork that is needed for
Mac applications and some Mac files cannot be transferred in this manner
and it damages the files. Note that presently there is not an xcopy type
of program that will allow you to move the Mac and PC files by using a PC.

Procedure:

1. Log in as the New Server User.

2. Create a temporary shared folder name; the directory to be shared
should be the user's home directory name.

3. Log in as the user and link the home folder. Then link the temporary
shared folder name on the server that you will be moving to.

4. Copy all of the files from the old home folder to the new shared
folder name that you linked. Highlight all of the file icons and drag to
the new shared folder.

5. After the files have been copied from the old home folder to the new
shared folder, delete all of the files in the old home folder.

6. Unshare all of the user's shared folders.

7. After the user's old home folder has been deleted and unshared, log in
as the Server User of the new server and unshare the temporary shared
folder name.

8. Log in as the Admin and modify the older user. The two steps
to modify the user must be done individually on each domain; e.g. if you
have four domains you need to make eight modifications. The two steps are

a. Delete the old share server they were on.

b. Add the new share server with the correct homedir name and File
server drive. The homedir name must be the exact name that was
shared with the temporary shared folder name and the file's drive must
be the same drive specified when it was shared.

9. Log in as the new user and link their home folder. Verify that all
of the files are actually in the home folder.

10. Log out as the user so that they can access their new home folder.
