The following outline contains the steps involved in upgrading
an EtherSeries customer to 3+. The upgrade process is easy but slow.

If the user has a server tape drive:

    1) Do a Full Backup to Tape (just for protection).

For each user:

    1) Login as that user.

    For each volume:

        1) Link the volume.

        2) Back up the volume to floppy disk(s) using Apple's
HDBackup program. (be sure to label the floppy
disks. There may be lots of them.)

        3) Unlink the volume.

Once all user's volumes have been backed up to floppies:

    1) Install 3+ Software onto the 3Server. This will require
that the user reinitialize (reformat) the 3Server hard
disk. EVERYTHING WILL BE ERASED! (This is the reason for
       the full tape backup.)

    2) Create the users whose volumes that you wish to restore.

    3) Login as each user.

For each of the user's volumes:

        1) Link to the user's home folder.

        2) Create a folder in the home folder with the name of
the volume that is to be restored.

        3) Use HDBackup to restore the volume from floppy disk(s)
           to that folder just created.

That's it. Straightforward but slow. It may require a lot of
floppy disks. If the user has a spare 3Server, all of the volumes
may be copied to the second server
temporarily, the original 3Server reformated and 3+ installed,
users created, and the volumes copied back. This would be much
faster and would not require any floppy disks.
