If you have installed the 486 option board into your 3S/500 server without
installing the 3+Open 1.1F Maintenance Update disk, DO NOT reinstall the 386
chip and ROM to put 1.1F onto the server. There are two important files that
must be on the boot partition to get the server up and running; they are
E3S386.OS2 and DISK01.SYS, on Disk 2 and Disk 3 of the 1.1F Maintenance
Update diskettes. Following are the directions for installing 1.1F on
a 486 server:

1. Make a 3C console connection to the server.

2. Insert the 1.1F Maintenance Update Disk 2 in drive A.

3. Type:

    copy a:\3open\os2drv\mac\e3s386.os2 c:\3open\server\lanman\drivers /v

4. Remove 1.1F Maintenance Update Disk 2 and insert 1.1F Maintenance Update
Disk 3 into drive A.

5. Type:

    copy a:\3server\disk01.sys c:\ /v

6. Reboot the server and install the rest of 1.1F.

You can also use these instructions in the following case:

A 3S/500 server with the 486 option installed goes down and a boot partition
or disk is reformatted. After the server is rebooted, the 3+Open install
tape (P/N 4773-03) is installed via TAPEINS.BAT, and the server is rebooted
in normal operational mode. The server fails after POST with the error SCSI
init failure 2/0.

Note: These problems will not occur when the 3+Open install tape is revised
to the 1.1F level. The new part number will be 4773-05.
