Title: Configuring an Apple Laserwriter With the PostScript Despooler

To configure an Apple Laserwriter with the PostScript despooler, two steps
are essential:

1. When running NETSETUP to configure the serial ports, set handshaking
properly. For example, the DIP switches on an Apple Laserwriter NTX
attached to \\servername can be configured as follows:

   1 down \
              |- RS232 9600 baud
   2 down /

   3 up \
              |- POSTSCRIPT batch mode
   4 up /

   5 down \
              |- XON/XOFF handshaking
   6 down /

The SETMODE.CMD file to configure the server's serial (COM1) port for
the NTX should look like this:

    C:\OS2\MODE.COM COM1:
    9600,N,8,1,to=off,xon=on,idsr=off,odsr=off,octs=off,dtr=off,rts=off

2. In the "Printing Options for Queue" screen, enter the following values.
(Use uppercase or lowercase letters as shown):

   a. "Printer device(s)" is NUL

   b. "Print processor" is C:\3OPEN\SERVER\LANMAN\SERVICES\PSDSPL.EXE

   c. "Parameters" is PHYSDEV=COMx where x is the appropriate serial
port number. There must be NO trailing colon.

   d. "Separator file" is left blank, or, if it is used, make sure it
is also defined in the "Parameters" field as "SEPFILE=separator"
where separator is the full explicit path and filename.

Note: On page 4-22 of the 3+Open Installation and Setup Guide, there
is a mistake in the "Parameters" field for the Printer Options for Queue
dialog box. The only character needed to separate the PHYSDEV parameter
and the SEPFILE parameter is a space. Do not use a comma.

If you do not set up the DIP switches, SETMODE.CMD file, and "Printing
Options for Queue" screen correctly, you will get a NETPOPUP message
saying that the output device could not be opened.

You do not need a [postscript] section in the server's LANMAN.INI file
unless your users will be running applications that package their own
Postscript dictionaries or font files with the application.
