Title: Accessing Modems From DOS Netstations Under 3+Open
date: 12/6/89

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

Under 3+Open, an administrator can create a sharename for a COM port
with a modem connected to it. Users on OS/2 netstations connect to
the sharename with a NET USE command. However, users on DOS netstations
cannot connect to it, due to the DOS limitation that users cannot redirect
a COM port. Executing a NET USE command is considered a redirection.
Thus, a NET USE to a modem sharename can only be done from an OS/2
netstation.
