This article describes how to install Locator2 on an OS/2
netstation in a network with 3+ (DOS-based) servers. The process
was tested with a Compaq Deskpro 386S as the OS/2 netstation and
a 3S/401 with 3+Name, 3+Share, 3+Backup, and CIOSYS 3+ 1.5.

1. Install "3+ for OS/2 Netstation software" on your computer.

2. Change to the subdirectory \3OPEN\OS2WKSTA\LANMAN\DRIVERS.

3.  Type COPY LOCATOR2.3CM  ..\SERVICES\LOCATOR2.EXE.

4. In the file PROTOCOL.INI, use a text editor to change the
    line LOCATOR=NO to LOCATOR=YES.

5. Type CD .. to return to the \3OPEN\OS2WKSTA\LANMAN
    subdirectory.

6. In the file LANMAN.INI, use a text editor to change the line
    WRKSERVICES= to WRKSERVICES=LOCATOR2.

7. In the file LANMAN.INI, use a text editor to add the line
    LOCATOR2=SERVICES\LOCATOR2.EXE.

8. Type CD\ and press Return to go to the root directory.

9. In the file STARTUP.CMV, use a text editor to insert a line
    after NETINIT that reads:

    \3OPEN\OS2WKSTA\LANMAN\DRIVERS\LOCINIT.EXE

    LOCINIT.EXE locks the keyboard and counts off one minute to
    allow the Locator service time to initialize internal tables.
    It pops up a message on the netstation screen as the seconds
    are counted down.

10. Reboot the netstation.

11. Check that Locator is running on the network, either by
    typing 3NB DIR (from a DOS netstation) or typing 3NB2 DIR
    (from an OS/2 netstation) to see a list of NetBIOS names.
