Question: I am having difficulty getting Windows 3.0 to operate correctly
on my DOS Basic LAN Manager workstation. I installed the HIMEM.SYS driver
to run Windows 3.0 in its Enhanced mode on my 386-based machine. Windows
3.0 appears to operate correctly--I can log on to the network without
any problems--but I cannot link to anything on the network. What's wrong?

Answer: The DOS Basic redirector has a parameter controlling whether or
not it will place itself into XMS memory. This parameter is /HIMEM:[YES|NO]
and is appended to the command line starting the redirector. The default
for /HIMEM is YES, so that if the Basic redirector senses the presence of XMS
memory, it will place a portion of itself there. When you use Windows 3.0 in
its Enhanced mode, you must set the DOS Basic LAN Manager parameter /HIMEM:NO.
