Title: Disappearing Disk Space and Hidden Subdirectories

Some Microsoft programs, such as the M editor, create a subdirectory
called "DELETED" to hold old files. It has the "hidden" attribute set, so
you will not see the directory or its files during normal operation, but
the existence of the hidden files may make it impossible to remove a
subdirectory, even though it looks empty, and may cause you to wonder why
there is less space available on your hard disk than you expected.

It has been reported that both DOS and OS/2 programs have created this
subdirectory, in the root as well as within other directories.

To find the hidden files and subdirectories, use a disk management utility
such as Norton's on each directory where you think a Microsoft program made
a backup copy of a file. Or type DIR HIDDEN or CD HIDDEN to see what files
are there (assuming the files within the directory are not also hidden).

To remove the hidden files and subdirectories, type DEL DELETED and RD
DELETED.
