Title: Part Numbers Not Updated on Some 3S/40X Memory Expansion Boards
Date: 7-18-89

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

The 3+Open LAN Manager Version 1.0 Release Notes state that the
Memory Expansion Board (MEB) must be part number 4327-01 or
higher, to reduce the potential for false RAM parity errors when
running 3+Open on heavy traffic networks. However, there may be
some MEBs in the field, marked 4327-00, which actually have been
reworked and should be labeled 4327-01.

Before you send in your MEB for an upgrade, make sure you do not
already have an upgraded board. Boards without the upgrade have
no jumpers from the connector to the board. Upgraded boards have
two jumpers on the J1 connector (from the board to pins 38 and
70). All boards shipped after December 1, 1988, are upgraded
boards.
