If I purchase an EtherLink card to use with thin Ethernet
cable, do I also need to purchase a transceiver?

A. Usually not. All generations of EtherLink adapter cards
are shipped with transceivers directly on the board.

Because it can be connected directly to an EtherLink or
EtherLink Plus board, thin Ethernet cable does not
require an external transceiver.

With thick cable, an external transceiver and an adapter plate
are required. Additionally, the transceiver select jumper on the
EtherLink or EtherLink Plus board (and on some 3Com server CME
boards) must be moved from the BNC to the DIX slot as the boards
come from the factory pre-configured for thin Ethernet cable.
