I accidentally damaged the EtherLink board in my server, and would
like to swap it with another EtherLink board from a workstation.
Is there anything special I need to be concerned with?

A. The swap is straightforward except that you need to remove the
Ethernet address chip from the damaged board, and replace the address
chip in the good board with it. This address is written to 3+Share
software to maintain unique network addressing. Therefore, your software
will be looking for that network number. It is a good idea to use a
chip puller to move the chip, to avoid damaging it. Be sure to orient
the chip in the proper direction. If the chip is inserted
backwards, it will be destroyed. The chip can be recognized by the label
with the Ethernet address attached to it.
