I see your 3Server, 3Server3, and 3S/20x servers have a 80186
processor. Shouldn't I expect better performance from a 80286-
based PC?

A. Not at all. You have to remember that our servers were built
from the ground up with one thing in mind, and that's performing
as a server. 286 PC's are optimized for multi-tasking, rather
than for dedicated operation, as they are expected to have a
multitude of uses, such as supporting a keyboard and a monitor.

The 80186 microprocessor used in 3Server, 3Server3, and 3S/20x
servers was designed for dedicated operation and, when combined
with the DMA structure and memory data channeling of 3Server3 or
3S/20x servers as well as the lack of need to support a monitor
and keyboard, delivers excellent performance.
