Title: Fixing a 3Server LCD Error: 3BIO\SCSI\DISK
Date: 5/3/91

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

When a 3Com dedicated server is booted for a remote console connnection,
it is booted either from the CONFIG.SYS of the Server Utility diskette
(for LAN Manager) or from the CONFIG.SYS of the System Software #1 diskette
(for 3+). The hard disk in the server is not required for a remote console
connection. However, there are times that the server will get stuck with
the message "3bio\SCSI\disk" on the LCD. For example, this error may occur
after replacing a 150 MB drive for a 630 MB drive in a 3S/50x server. If
the error appears, follow these steps:

1. Power off the server.

2. Carefully unplug the cable connected to the edge of the disk controller
board closest to the front of the unit.

3. Power on the server in the maintenance position and begin the 3C START
process.

4. Once the console connection prompt appears, carefully plug back in the
cable.

It will now be possible to go into 3DISK386 and remove all drives, add
drives and start reformatting, or whatever your situation requires in a
console connection.
