Title: Installing LAN Manager onto 3Com 3Servers from Floppies
Date: 2/22/91

Do NOT re-install LAN Manager from your PC server's set of floppy
diskettes onto a 3Com dedicated server. There are additional files
required on the tape-delivered software for the 3Server that the floppies
do not contain.

If your 3Server does not have a tape drive, you will need to install
LAN Manager over the network from a tapeserver. To do this, you
will need to establish a console connection between your netstation and
the target server. The following steps explain installation from a 3+Open
server.

Note: To do an over-the-network installation from a 3+ server, refer
to page 3-7 of the "3+Open for 3Servers Installation and Setup Guide."

1. Start the console connection using 3C START.

2. When prompted to "press any key to continue," press Ctrl-Q for an
over-the-network installation.

3. At the netstation type MSUP and press Enter. MSUP starts the target
server with servername MSNET.

4. Restart your netstation as an OS/2 client.

5. Logon as admin.

6. Type:

    NET ADMIN \\source servername /c 3restore x:\tape \\MSNET\DRIVEC /s /w

where x: is the internal drive letter of your tape drive.

7. Reboot the target server and reestablish a 3C connection.

8. Set the boot record by typing the following commands:

       C:
       \os2\install\instaid

INSTAID writes an OS/2 boot record onto logical drive C of the target
server.

9. Without breaking the console connection, change directory to:

       C:\3open\server\lanman\netprog

10. Run Netsetup to configure your server.
