Title: 3Com Tapeserver Running DLC Over Token Ring Hangs on LCD01
Date: 10/8/90

Copyright 3Com Corporation, 1991. All rights reserved.

A 3Com 3Server running 3+Open's DLC protocol with the Tape Service enabled,
over an IBM Token Ring 4/16 adapter, may hang on "LCD01" during the server
boot-up. When LASTBOOT is run, it shows that the server stopped on the last
line of the CONFIG.SYS file, which is the device line for the TAPE.OS2 driver.

To work around the problem, edit the CONFIG.SYS file so that the tape
driver is not the last driver loaded:

1. Establish a 3C connection to the server.

2.  Edit CONFIG.SYS to move the "device=C:\tape.os2 /T:250:0:0" line
above the device loaded prior to the tape driver. Typically, this is
NETWKSTA.SYS.  For example:

    device=C:\tape.os2 /T:250:0:0
    DEVICE=C:\3OPEN\OS2WKSTA\LANMAN\NETPROG\NETWKSTA.SYS...

Note: The complete device line is not shown for NETWKSTA.SYS.

Other workarounds would be to replace the IBM 4/16 adapter with 3Com's
TokenLink card or to change the protocol to something other than DLC.
