Title: Using Lan Vision on a 3+Open Server
Date: 8/10/90

Lan Vision client side requires the use of Presentation Manager. Thus,
Lan Vision requires OS/2 1.0 or above for the server side and OS/2 1.1 or
above for the client side.

If you are running 3+Open 1.0 on a concurrent server, make sure
that your OS/2 clients are running OS/2 1.1 and do not try to invoke
Lan Vision from the concurrent server until you upgrade to 3+Open 1.1.
Following are errors experienced when trying to invoke Lan Vision from
a concurrent 3+Open 1.0 Server:

After installing Lan Vision 1.0 on a concurrent server and attempting to
invoke it with 3VISG, a user would receive the following error:

   SYS1804 can't find OS2SM

This error was generated because the client side of Lan Vision had not
been installed on the concurrent server.

After installing the client side and again trying to use 3VIS or 3VISG,
the user would receive the following error:

   Can't find PMSHAPI

This error was generated because the user was not running Presentation
Manager, which Lan Vision requires.

An easy way to invoke PM is to change the PROTSHELL= line in the
CONFIG.SYS file to look like this:

   protshell=c:\os2\pmshell c:\os2\os2.ini c:\os2\cmd.exe /k os2init.cmd

(This change is noted in the 3+Open 1.1 release notes on page 15.)
