Title: Sigma VGA-H Video Card in Console
date: 5/29/89

When trying to establish a console connection on a 3S/401, using
an IBM XT model 286 or Compaq 286 Deskpro with the Sigma VGA-H
video card, the procedure hangs at "Loading LCD" or displays
"Unexpected SW Interrupt" on the LCD.

Although diagnostics do not indicate any incompatibility within
the workstation, the problem may be caused by the Sigma video
card.

Either of the following procedures may solve the problem:

1. Increase the Interrupt and DMA values on your adapter card,
depending on what is available on your machine. We used INT
7 and DMA 3 for the EtherLinkII board. Then make the console
connection with System Software #1 3382-05 or -07.

Note: Rev 04 does NOT work.

An adjustment of the I/O Base address may also help eliminate conflict.

2. Replace the Sigma card with a Compaq VGA card, which works
with rev 04 and 05 System Software.
