Title: Incorrectly Formatted AST 600 MB Drive Causes Spooling Problem

Problem: When a large file (>150 KB) was printed from an AST 486 server
with 600 MB drive, the program would fail after spooling 150 KB of the file
and the workstation would hang. After experimentation it was discovered that
the problem would occur only on the server where the 600 MB disk drive was
located.

The customer was using 3Com's server-adapted OS/2 on the server. Normally
our server-adapted OS/2 limits customers to 528 MB of space, but the customer
was able to access all 600 MB of the drive.

Solution: The customer had used another utility to do the low-level format
to break the 528 MB barrier. This apparently confused our disk driver and
somehow made the workstation crash. After redoing the low-level format to
allow access only to 528 MB, the problem disappeared.
