Before beginning the procedure below, back up all files on the
3Server3 or 3S/200 hard disk to tape.

When the files are backed up, boot the server in Remote Console Mode by
following these steps:

1. Place the Test/Operate Switch in the TEST position.

2. Turn the server's thumbwheel to the maintenance setting; position 4 for
Ethernet, position 8 for token ring.

3. Press the Reset and strobe buttons at the same time, then release
them. Wait for Address nnnnnn to appear on the LCD.

4. Insert the 3+ 3Server3 System Software #1 diskette into drive A: of
the remote console system.

5. Type 3C START and press [Return]. The screen message is

Waiting for a request ...
Start request from: nnnnnn, ok (Y or N)

6. If the network address displayed does not match the address on the
LCD, press N and wait for another address to be displayed. Press Y when
the address matches.

The server will go through an initialization program. You will
get an A:\>> prompt when the console connection is established.

Consult your 3Server3 or 3S/200 Guide if you require more information
concerning remote console mode.

7. Remove the 3+ 3Server3 System software disk from drive A: and insert
the 3+ Fault Tolerant\DM diskette into drive A:.

8. From the C>> prompt type A:\3SERVER\DM3START and press [Return].

The backup disk (drive one) will be initialized and all data will be
copied to it from drive zero. Drive zero is then initialized and all data
is copied to it from drive one.

This process takes approximately one hour and ten minutes for a pair
of 106 MB drives. When the process is complete, the drives are
synchronized and the message "Install is now complete" is displayed
on the remote console screen.

CAUTION: Do not disturb the installation process or disk
corruption may occur. If the installation aborts, DM3S Error: X
is displayed on the LCD and the yellow attention indicator
lights. Refer to Appendix A, Error Messages, in the 3+Fault
Tolerant\DM Administrator's Guide, if the installation aborts.
