On 3S/40x and 3S/5xx servers, the error "Bad Master Boot Rcd:" indicates
that there are no boot records found on volume C:. This is caused by
formatting the drive without specifying that it would be bootable.

To correct the error, use the 3DISK386 program to do a soft format of
the drive and specify that the drive will be bootable. You do not need
to do a hard format.

Note: Formatting a single volume will not correct the error.

3DISK386 is set to default to non-bootable volume. Therefore, it is
important when you choose the disk that you choose the bootable option when
prompted by typing "y". Formatting with this option will record the
bootable information in the boot record.
