First, you will need the programs FIXIT.COM and FIXIT.BIN and run this
from the DOS prompt.

  C:\> FIXIT FIXIT.BIN 2

     FIXIT.COM is the program
     FIXIT.BIN is a supporting file
The number 2 represents the com port that your modem is currently
     connected to. (1-4)

This should find the modem and begin the repair prodecure. When it is
finished you will get a message telling you that the modem firmware is
corrupted. You will now load the VFC code date 5.25 (included). This is
important. You won't be able to install the new V34 code to the modem
after you just ran fixit. The reasin being FIXIT changes the boot
block and it won't be compatible with the new V34 SDL. The new V34 SDL
wi get a CRC error and abort. So start with the 5.25 code and once
that has successfully loaded, you can then upgrade the modem's firmware
with the NEW and IMPROVED V34 SDL and it should work. Your modem or
the customer's will have been brought back from the dead.

In the unlikely event this doesn't repair the modem, it will most
likely need to be sent to USR for repair and/or replacement.
