Many lessons and tutorials are available on WWW (World Wide
Web) servers. The previous menu item points to an html document
which contains a list of links to such WWW servers. None of the
gopher servers known to the writer can access these sites and
view the materials as is intended except possibly with the use
of additional programs. The best way to view these materials is
with special programs as Mosaic or XMosaic which are graphics
based. The Mathematics Archives now supports a WWW server; its
URL is
          http://archives.math.utk.edu/
If you are unfamiliar with WWW and/or Mosaic then read the
material concerning these which can be retrieved using the top
menu of the Mathematics Archives.
However there are a large number of users of the Mathematics
Archives who would prefer to use the text based gopher interface;
for example, the writer uses gopher at home to access the
Mathematics Archives. At the present time, the writer's
institution does not provide any means so that he can access at
home WWW sites with either Mosaic or XMosaic. The writer has set
up his gopher client on a UNIX server so that it calls the
program lynx to access the WWW sites.
We shall gather and provide information on various ways to
access these WWW sites using gopher.
