Welcome to the Game!

What is VR5?

Vr5 is a dramatic 1 hour TV series. The story revolves around
Sydney Bloom and her ability to engage another person's
     subconscious in VR5.
The stories are complicted by the intervention of the mysterious
committee. Each episode tells more about Sydney's quest to
discover her abilities and the truth about her own past.

What is Virtual Storm?

Virtual Storm (VS) is a growing movement which works to bring
back the TV series VR5. We are a friendly, loosely organized
Internet based group. We rely on the cooperative efforts of our
     members to:
         Write letters
Spread the word on the net and outside
Help with suggestions and whatever else you can offer
            to our quest.

What's the purpose of alt.tv.vr5?

alt.tv.vr5 is just like any other newsgroup. It offers a place for
people with similar interests to share ideas. It is also a good
place to keep up with what's going on in the VS. There are separate
mailing lists (details below) that are posted to this news group.
All of the information about the current events in VS are presented
     there.
The group isn't moderated, but there are a few rules. We ask that the
subject matter be relevant and suitable for all ages.
There is *no* flaming in alt.tv.vr5. Please keep inflammatory posts
private; do not post them to the newsgroup.

How do I join the mailing list(s)?

     It's easy!

     1. Pick the list you want to join. The "vr5" list is for
general VR.5 discussions; the "vrstorm" list discusses Virtual
Storm's activities and ways to promote the show.

     2. Send an e-mail message to:

            listserv@server.microserve.net

Leave the subject blank and include the following in the body
         of the message:

            subscribe <list name> <your name>

Put either vr5 or vrstorm (the list you want to join) where
it says <list name>, and put your first and last name where it
         says <your name>. Don't include the brackets.

You will soon receive a confirmation message telling you that you're
     in!
Warning! These are very active mailing lists. Some people have had
difficulty handling the amount of mail, or their servers have had
problems with the amount of mail generated. There are two solutions:

         1) Send another message to listserv@server.microserve.net with
the following text in the body:

               set <list name> mail digest

            (don't include the brackets)
You'll get all the mail on the list in packets once or more
a day so your server isn't overloaded.

         2) If you're the one that gets overloaded (I admit, it can be
difficult getting through that much mail every day),
send the following message to listserv@server.microserve.net

               unsubscribe <list name> <your name>

(again do not include the brackets)
This will remove you from the mailing list. You will still be
able to follow the adventure in the newsgroup, so it isn't
like being banished to the dark realm. No one will think poorly
of you for doing this. We all have days when we think "Ack!
60 messages! I just cleared the mail box 2 hours ago!" <grin>

Is the VR.5 soundtrack out?
Yes it is! It's on CD and tape. You can find it at your local record
store. If they don't have it in stock, ask them to order it.

soundtrack album of music from the now cancelled TV series "VR5" by
     John Frizzell.

     CD Number: 72445-11109-2 CD-NI
     Tape Number: 72445-11109-4

How do I join Virtual Storm?

     Joining is easy!
Send e-mail to David Shaler at
            dshaler@Direct.CA
You need to let him know the following about yourself:

          Real name
          Age
          Internet-accessible e-mail address, if possible
          Geographic location
          city
          state / province
          country
          ZIP / postal code
Do you want your information to be listed in the
             membership list?

You will also be required to send (or have sent) a letter to
             Rysher. (addresse below)

Where do I find sounds and pictures from the show?

VR.5 sound clips can be found occasionally in the newsgroup
alt.binaries.sounds.tv. However, the most reliable way of
finding sound clips and pictures is to go to the VR.5-specific
World Wide Web sites (listed above)

The Organic Computer, in particular, contains an extensive
collection of interesting sound clips and pictures.

You can also find items posted occasionally to alt.tv.vr5.

Was VR.5 cancelled?

Yes, unfortunately it was. We are working hard to convince the
powers that be at Rysher that it should be put into syndication.
That is why VS was set up! Please lend your support in any way
     you can!

Where can I write to express my support for the show?

We are currently focusing on Rysher Entertainment, we need
to show them that a strong fan base exists.
Rysher needs to be convinced that there's support out there for
VR.5 to be syndicated. Write a concise, preferably hand-written
     letter to:

                 Rysher Entertainment
                 Dawn Rosenquist/VR5
                 3400 Riverside Drive #600
                 Burbank, CA 91505

Tell them how much you enjoyed the show. Emphasize the fact that
there is a stong grass roots movement to bring the show back and
that you are just one of the many supporters. You can also look
in the newsgroup or the FAQ for ideas on what to write. We have
been told that 1 hand written letter is worth 100 e-mails, so get
those pencils out and start writing!

Other ways you can help:
-Write letters to the editor of your local paper
-Write to national papers. (We are preparing a press release
           now.)
Stress the fact that this is one of many shows with a strong
female lead that was cancelled last season.
-Watch the newsgroup for ways to get the flyer we are preparing.
Hand it out to friends, post it at school, work or anywhere
else it is appropriate. Ask shop owners at comic book stores
or other relevant stores if you can leave a stack of them on
           the counter for their customers.
-Tell your friends and family. Get them involved too!
-Watch the newsgroup for new suggestions and follow up on them!
-Make new suggestions! We need to hear your good ideas too!

For info by snail mail write to:

                 VR.5 Virtual Storm Headquarters
                 P.O. Box 5671
                 Somerset, NJ 08875-5671
                 U.S.A.

Does anyone have copies of the episodes?

Please post a note to alt.tv.vr5. People who have the eps in
our group have always been glad to share.

I want to express my thanks to all the people out there who have worked
so hard and created all of these wonderful sites and provided information.
Thank you all!

Congratulations! You made it through!

Thanx for spending some time with us! Hope to hear from you soon!
