BABYLON 5 NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!
------------------------------
Though ratings for B5 have been higher than ever, the show is in peril of
being cancelled, due to the disbanding of PTEN and the current climate in
distributing syndicated television shows.

Note: Babylon 5 has NOT already been cancelled.

But the decision to renew or cancel B5 will be made in a few weeks -- around
the end of April -- so it is *critical* that if you like Babylon 5, you must
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD, and convince your friends who also watch the show to
do the same.

How do you help? Write a *polite* letter to your LOCAL STATION that airs B5.
The local stations are the ones that must decide whether or not to keep B5 on
the air. And phone calls/e-mails/faxes don't count for much. Write a letter!

Guidelines for writing letters can be found at:
 ftp://ftp.hyperion.com/pub/Babylon-5/b5tvaddresses.txt or
 http://www.uncg.edu/~whsudder/b5/advocacy/stations.html
Letter guidelines, and a copy of the B&C ad (which you may wish to print out
to convince your local station that B5's ratings are doing well) are at:
 http://www-personal.engin.umich.edu/~kylef

I would encourage readers of this FAQ to get this information out to as many
people as possible, and do whatever it takes to get your friends to put pen
and paper in hand and write their stations. (Give 'em addresses and even
stamps if you have to!) If you have a web page, why not encourage others to
join in on the campaign, by putting some information on your web pages!

NEW PRESS RELEASES AVAILABLE
----------------------------
Babylonian Productions has brought in some new publicists, who are currently
ramping up a major publicity campaign, hiliting some of the things that make
B5 special, such as its 5-year storyline, the online participation of JMS,
production techniques, and so on. These releases are available at:
ftp://ftp.hyperion.com/pub/Babylon-5/Releases/ ... Since these are press
releases, it is strongly encouraged that they be distributed. In fact, I
would encourage B5 fans who have positions at local newspapers (or even
connections!) make use of these PRs and write articles on the B5 phenomenon.

A REQUEST TO FANS FROM THE PUBLICISTS
-------------------------------------
"A SPECIAL REQUEST TO 'BABYLON 5' FANS FROM THE SHOW'S PUBLICISTS, Lyla
Foggia and Sandi Serling: To date, your loyal and active support of the show
has indisputably helped keep B5 on the air. To help ensure that the fourth
year of JMS' brilliant 5-year epic saga reaches viewers, we are in the midst
of mounting a special publicity campaign in the U.S. to bring as much
attention to B5 as possible during the month of April. And as our invaluable
eyes and ears out there in the heartland, YOU can help make this happen!

"Do you know of any NEWSPAPER WRITERS or RADIO SHOWS in your area that have
mentioned B5 in a positive way during the last three years? IF SO, WOULD YOU
KINDLY E-MAIL US at Reelwomen@aol.com with the following information: their
names, the names of their newspaper and/or radio station, and their phone/fax
numbers (if you have them), as well as any pertinent information about the
extent of their support. Also, be sure to include YOUR name and e-mail
address, so we can let you know of the outcome of our follow-up contact with
them. If there is a B5 fan club in your area, we'd also like to know that
too, along with a contact name, e-mail address, and/or evening phone number.

"Finally, as you may know, a renewal decision on the show is imminent. We
urge you to WRITE the local TV station that carries the show in your area
(precise instructions are available in The Lurker's Guide to Babylon 5 --
http://www.hyperion.com/lurker.html).

"And thank you! If you have questions, please also e-mail us at
Reelwomen@aol.com."

Subject: 5. Current Merchandise

+-----------------------------------+
JMS has asked fans who find un-
licensed merchandise (generally
at cons) to notify him via mail
or e-mail (see FAQ part A).
+-----------------------------------+

Babylon 5 products are now gradually arriving. Licensing Company of America,
a subsidiary of Warner Bros. is handling the licensing of Babylon 5 products.

Narn and Minbari masks are available. WWW: http://afc.buyit.com/lightspeed/
or http://www.halcyon.com/uncomyn/b5/costumes/b5-mask.html

A new role-playing game (RPG) is coming out from Chameleon Eclectic.
WWW: http://skynet.bevc.blacksburg.va.us/cee/prsrel8.txt

Creation Entertainment has T-shirts and photos, mugs, jackets, and hats --
(818) 409-0960.

A soundtrack by Christopher Franke, about 55-56 minutes in length, is now
available via mail order (see below) and in record stores. Call around to
check record stores -- they are usually pretty clueless about it.

To order the soundtrack directly, send checks or money orders for US$13.99
(California: plus 8.25% tax) plus $3.00 shipping to USA/Canada/Mexico ($6.00
elsewhere), to Sonic Images, P.O. Box 691626 West Hollywood, CA 90069.

A second soundtrack is expected; it may appear around May 1996.

You can also order it from Pegasus Publishing, 2501 W Sublett #890, Arlington,
Texas 76017-5461 USA, Phone (817) 467 0681. Price is $17 + $3 shipping (US);
They accept credit cards.

Babylon 5 Galoob Micro-Machines are now out in most areas in USA, and should
be available at toy stores like Toys R Us, as well as stores like Wal-Mart,
K-Mart, and Target. There are four sets of three ships, each set costing
about five to six dollars. You may need to ask for them, as they often aren't
put on display. Two new sets are expected to be released soon.

There is a B5 screensaver CD ROM (Windows, with Mac version forthcoming.)
VERY nice images and movies. Available at computer stores or directly
from Sound Sources at (800) 877-4778 [or (805) 494-9996]. Cost is $29.95
plus $4.75 S/H. (I don't know about international shipping
or multiple unit costs.) WWW: http://www.cris.com/~ssi/

T-shirts and caps made by All-U, apparently of very high quality, are a big
hit with the B5 cast and crew. Contact All-U, 1-800-424-2558, ext. 105.

Various B5 merchandise -- micro machines, CDs, shirts, etc. can be ordered
from Uncomyn Gifts. E-mail uncomyn@halcyon.com.
WWW: http://www.halcyon.com/uncomyn/b5.html

Babylon 5 Trading cards are available; they show cast members, effects, and
episodes up to about two-thirds of the second season. 118 cards, 2 checklist
cards, 24 limited edition insert cards.
*
A second set of cards is in the works.

A fan-produced <*> pin, depicting the "jumpgate" symbol used to denote B5 fans
all over the Internet, is available for ordering.
WWW: http://www.teleport.com/~elana/pin/pin.html for pictures & information.

JMS's revision to his scriptwriting book will be released later in 1996. It
will contain an entire B5 script, probably "The Coming of Shadows." It will
be called _The (Even More!) Complete Book of ScriptWriting_.
