INTRODUCTION :

        Fate is a Multi-User-Dungeon/Terminal Program, created for MUD users
around the world. The Navigational Ability, String Searching Capabilities,
and other feathures make it more easily used than a regular terminal program
for MUD games. Though it's easy use and simplicity bring it to a different
level than other term programs, even for the user whom does not wish to use
it for MUD play. Users are strongly recommended to register Fate and receive
all the benifites from the registered version (See Reg.txt for more
information).

SECTION 1 : GETTING STARTED

        First you must have a fossil driver installed. I have included
x00220.zip which is the is a fossil driver which has been tested with Fate
& works perfectly. Simply Unzip it & run the application file which installs
the Fossil. Read the x00200.zip docs for more information on installing
this fossil driver.

         Next you must configure fate to your com port and
the speed of your modem. To Do this simply type at the dos prompt
"Fate /Config", this will start fate up but it will bring you to a menu
which will allow you to change the baud and com port.
The Menu will look as follows:

1) Change BaudRate
2) Change Com Port
3) Run Terminal Program
Baud : 38400
Com : 1

        By pressing 1 you will be able to change the Baud Rate, by pressing
2 you will be able to change the com port and by prsesing 3 you will run Fate.
Once you have completed this, and you have run Fate, you will be brought to
The dial directory automatically.

SECTION 2 : DIAL DIRECTORY [ALT-D]

        The dial directory is an easy way to keep track of phone #'s and BBS
names and it also dials the #'s for you if you dont know how to manually
enter the #'s into a terminal window. The dial dir looks as follows:

   7)

SECTION 3 : USER DEFINED MACROS [ALT-M]

        There are 36 User defined macros, a macro is a sequence of characters
that a user can setup, and by hitting one key can send this sequence threw
the modem. Such as if you wanted to send "Hi there my name is Bob." threw
the modem by hitting F1, then you could. You can setup the keys F1 to F12,
Alt-F1 to Alt-F12, and Ctrl-F1 to Ctrl-F12. The User Defined Macro Screen
looks as follows:

      F1: This is what would be entered if you hit F1|
      F2:
      F3:
      F4:
      F5:
      F6:
      F7:
      F8:
      F9:
     F10:
     F11:
     F12:
COMMANDSij
                   F1 to F12 = Change Corresponding macro
                   Alt-Equal = Go up One macro Page
                   Alt-Minus = Go down One macro page
ij
                   Press ESC to Exit User Macro Screen

        F1 TO F12:
                By hitting F1 to F12 in the User-Defined macro screen you can
        Change the macros. If you are on Page 1 then you would be changing
        F1 to F12, if you're on Page 2 then you'd be changing Ctrl-F1 to
        Ctrl-F12, and if you were on Page 3 then you'd be changing Alt-F1 to
        Alt-F12.

        ALT-EQUAL AND ALT-MINUS:
                If you hit Alt Equal then you could raise the screen by one
        and if you were to hit Alt-Minus you'd decrease the screen by one.

        THE | CHARACTER:
                By Entering the | character into a macro whenever the macro
        is entered threw the modem the | character would represent a Carriage
        Return, thus if you wanted to entered first your Name, then password,
        then phone number you could do it as follows:

                John Dow|Password|555-5555|

                And by entering this into one of the macros you would be
        first entering "John Dow" then hitting enter, then "Password" then
        enter and then finally "555-5555" and then enter. Such as

                John Dow[return]
                Password[return]
                555-5555[return]

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECTION 4 : PROGRAM MACROS [ALT-V]

        Program macros are only used when the Toggle Bar (Refer to section
6 for more detail) is switched on. When it is switched on, then every string
that you send threw the modem will be saved. This is true for up to 100
different strings. The Program macro screen looks as follows:

Key               Macro-Out-Put

ALT F1:

ALT F5:
ALT F6:
ALT F7:
ALT F8:
ALT F9:
ALT F0:

        last 10 program macros by hitting Alt-1 (the last string entered)
        to alt-0 (the 10th string ago entered).

SECTION 5 : SEARCH STRINGS [ALT-S]

        Search Strings are used to search for certain strings that are coming
onto the screen. Whether it is being sent by the modem, or received by the
modem makes no difference. The Search String Screen Looks As follows:

Ŀ
                            Search Strings                     Page 1
Search String #1[Off] :

Responce String :
ij
Search String #2[Off] :

Responce String :
ij
Search String #3[Off] :

Responce String :
ij
Search String #4[Off] :

Responce String :

1 to 4 - Change : Alt1 to Alt4 - on/off : Alt- to Alt= - Up/Down : ESC-Exit

        1 TO 4:
                By hitting 1 threw to 4 you are brought to a screen which
        will prompt you to change the Search String and the responce string
        to the corresponding number you've selected. Even if you go up 4
        Strings by hitting Alt-Equals (refer to below) even though strings
        5,6,7 and 8 are being displayed, to change 5 you'd still hit 1,
        because it is the one on the top, and to change 8 you'd hit 4.

        ALT-1 TO ALT-4:
                By pressing Alt-1 to Alt-4 you can turn the strings on and
        off. If you dont wish for Fate to search for a string then you have
        the option to turn it off. And if later on you wish to search for
        that particular string again, then you can turn it on. The same applies
        as above, you would still use keys 1 to 4 even if you hit Alt-Equals.

        ALT-MINUS AND ALT-EQUALS:
                By hitting Alt-Equals you see the next 4 search and responce
        Strings, and by hitting Alt-Minus you'd decrease by 4.

SPECIAL CHARACTERS AND FUNCTIONS FOR SEARCH & RESPONCE STRINGS:

        THE * CHARACTER:
                By putting the * character as the first character of the
        responce string, and then followed by a integer between 1 to 15,
        will change all finds of the search string to the corresponding
        color. Such As:

                Search String #1[On] :
                You Have Died.
                Responce String :
                *4

                By having this, every time "You Have Died." is displayed on
        the screen, it will be in Red. The color system is as follows:

                1 = Dark Blue
                2 = Dark Green
                3 = Dark Cyan
                4 = Dark Red
                5 = Dark Purple
                6 = Light Brown
                7 = Light Grey
                8 = Dark Grey
                9 = Light Blue
               10 = Light Green
               11 = Light Cyan
               12 = Light Red
               13 = Light Purple
               14 = Light Yellow
               15 = Pure White

        THE ~ CHARACTER:
                By putting the ~ Character and then an integer value, whenever
        the search string is found, the place where the "~integer" is in the
        responce will be relaced by the word on the line that corresponds to
        the integer. So say you put "~2" then the second word would be placed
        in there. Such as, say the line that is being searched is "DarkMan
        has attacked you", and your search and responce was as follows:

                Search String #1[On] :
                has attacked you
                Responce String :
                Attack ~1
