About this object:

This object was originally converted from the 3D Studio format. As you know,
there is a wealth of PD IBM based 3D objects out there and just waiting for
a decent Amiga conversion ware to come along. To date, I dont know of one,
EXCEPT, LW's TIO module.

Now TIO tries to do a good job, as much as any of our current other
COMMERCIAL converters try to do a good job. Some do a better job than
others.

This object was converted in TIO. The following are resuults of a TIO
conversion:

1.TIO, like other ware, automatically turns ON the "Double Sided" button in
the surfaces interface. This will, ofcourse, increase the rendering time
for the object. Only makes sense!!

You may ask "WHY" this is necessary? Well, basically, NO conversion ware
can automatically detect the "Correct" direction a polygon should face. So,
the ware will make the conversion, attempting to have the polys all face in
the same direction the best it can-BUT- which direction is correct?... will
remain a mystery to the ware. Sooooo, by auto turning on the doublesided
button, you should not see any holes in the LWOB when you render, since
BOTH sides of all polygons are rendered! And thereby INCREASING the
rendering time!( More polys to render...ergo...Takes longer!!!)

2.TIO, like the other wares, also converts ALL polygons into triangular
polys and not, the LW efficient, rectangular polygons. This is also
helping to increase the rendering times. SOMETIMES, this is GOOD!!! On
curved sufaces especially, triangular poly's are preferred, so that the
surface will render smoothly. But on the many surfaces that this is not
necessary, this is burdensome, at best!

3.TIO does convert surface attributes, maintaining the names etc....This
does'nt mean the object will be ready to take to video, necessarily, just
that you will have SOME control built into the object.

Now YOU must decide if all these setbacks are worth the hassle!!!

Many of these objects are very detailed and well crafted, whether they
started off life as a scanned object or handcrafted. Some are definitely
WORTH the wait!!

If you know your way around Modelor, you can certainly edit your way to
perfection without a great degree of difficulty as the editing necessary is
NOT that complex whatsoever.......And if you DO edit these fine objects,
PLEASE re-Upload them to the BBS for other to enjoy also!!!!!
